We take pride in being able to promote the care-taking of captive bred tortoises and turtles. We have created this site to offer our animals, as well as our experiences to a wider audience. There is a lot of conflicting information available on the net. The information we provide is based on our experiences and has worked well for us over the years.

Arizona Tortoise Compound is located in Phoenix, Arizona. Due to the abundant sunshine, edible landscape and short winters, we are able to provide for and house many species of tortoises successfully. Housing and breeding multiple species requires constant upkeep and attention to each specific group’s diet, habitat and temperate needs. We have been raising, breeding and enjoying tortoises for a number of years with great attention to prevention of cross contamination. All groups are housed in separate habitats with edible landscaping native to their origins. In addition, we grow most of our own food sources to ensure they are chemical and pesticide free. We also provide commercial tortoise foods as part of balanced diet. Variety is key.

We have tried to provide a good base of information for the first-time tortoise owner and experienced keeper alike. Of course we can’t cover every aspect and we are always learning as a good caretaker should. That being said, we hope you find this site useful and informative.
